What to expect

Physical Therapy Evaluation

During your evaluation, your therapist will ask targeted questions to understand your pain, limitations, and goals. You’ll then go through a movement assessment and specific measurements to identify any strength, mobility, or movement-pattern issues contributing to your symptoms. Together, you’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses the root cause of the problem — not just the symptoms.

Injury Prevention & Performance Services

For running analyses or injury risk assessments, you can expect dedicated time focused on identifying the movement inefficiencies or physical limitations that may increase your injury risk or hold back your performance. After your session, your therapist will send you a customized exercise program designed to address your specific findings and help you move, perform, and run more efficiently.

Meet your physical therapist

Hey, I’m Jake (you can call me the running doctor but that is more of a joke). I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from USC and have been running competitively for over 15 years. I first started running to get faster for soccer, but I quickly fell in love with the adventure of exploring new places on foot and the unbeatable feeling of a runner’s high. Running has introduced me to incredible people and taught me so much about myself — lessons I might never have learned without the gift of physical health. That sentiment drives my passion for helping others stay strong, healthy, and able to enjoy the same freedom and fulfillment that running has given me.

In my practice, I believe runners deserve care from someone who not only understands the science but also shares their passion for the sport. It’s disheartening to hear blanket advice like “Running is bad for your knees” or “Just stop running for a few weeks,” when the truth is much more nuanced. My approach focuses on identifying movement patterns, uncovering limitations, and teaching ways to improve them. By addressing the root causes, we can reduce strain, prevent injury, and ultimately help you move and perform at your best.
